Lecturer Ilsa wins Chamber's Eco Prize
Lecturer Ilsa Parry took the top award recently in the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce art competition. She won the £500 prize with a funky light fitting made of aluminium swarth. Ilsa, a lecturer in 3D design at the Arts Centre, also won BBC2's Design for Life show.
The contest was a celebration of creativity in the city and Liverpool’s Year of the Environment 2009. Maresa Molloy, Head of Policy and Information at Liverpool Chamber, said: "What we liked about Ilsa’s lamp is that it's taking a waste material which is difficult to recycle and using it to create a new and attractive product."
Ilsa said: "Engineers use up tons of aluminium every year producing waste known as swarth. This product represents how one man's junk can be another man's treasure."
