Support Service for Students with Impaired Vision

Liverpool Community College offers wide-ranging support and specialist teaching provision for students with a visual impairment. Students can enrol on any of the wide range of courses offered by the college providing they meet the entry criteria. Every effort will be made to provide appropriate support for mainstream students. We also offer specialist classes in Braille, Information Technology, Study Skills and Fitness & Leisure. The specialist classes are also open to sighted students who have an interest in the area of visual impairment.
Support could include:
- Confidential enquiry service
- Assessments to identify learning support needs
- One to one in class support for note-taking, reading etc
- Learning materials in large print, Braille or electronic formats
- Provision of specialist equipment
- Training in specialist software and equipment
- Access arrangements & adjustments for exams
- Guidance to course tutors and staff development on including students with a visual impairment
- Liaison with external agencies
