Support for Students with Physical Difficulties
The support we offer is available in a variety of ways to students with physical disabilities or medical conditions:
- Our students all receive an Assessment of Need which identifies the support required for each individual student
- Technological: It could be an adaptation to a computer i.e. trackerball or special keyboard or maybe a height adjustable desk/table
- Educational Support Worker: An ESW can assist in the classroom with practical tasks such as note taking and/or re-enforcing instructions given by the tutor
- Care: Support is available from qualified care staff, which includes personal care, assistance to and from transport and during lunchtimes and breaks
- Transport: We also offer an assisted transport scheme which is dependent on your circumstances. Please ask for an application form to see if you qualify
Additional support from the Personal Care Team could include:
- Support during lunch periods and breaks
- Escort service on / off transport
- Assistance at meals, with mobility and with toilet requirements
- Practical help to students who have medical conditions or who are ill
- College facilities include care support rooms and showers on major sites, toilets for disabled people, wheelchairs, hoists, fully equipped first aid boxes and other personal care equipment
- If you would like to discuss how we could help your learning please contact us
