Confidentiality Statement – Please Read Carefully!

The counselling service has various measures to protect your confidentiality.

What We Can Do

• Discuss concerns about your well being and explore options.
• Explain how we ensure your privacy is protected.
• Work in accordance with data protection Act 1998 and the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

What We Can’t Do

• Work outside the law or College Policies, especially Child and Adult Protection Policies.
• Discuss disclosures made in counselling to the College. The responsibility for disclosures rest with the student to alert the institute.
• Generally pass your details to relatives, advocates or College staff.
• Ignore any self harm risks, or risks to others or the counsellors.
