Harnessing technology to enhance teaching practice – Friday 11th June 2010 10.00-12.30
Developing an E-learning Dyslexia Resource to improve the learning environment for students, CPD for lecturers, and to support the new Foundation Degree in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
Overview

The seminar will explore an action based research process that has informed institutional practice in the use of e-technology to support both staff CPD and teaching of students with specific learning differences / dyslexia:
- How a specific e-learning initiative developed from BDA Dyslexia Friendly accreditation and the introduction of a new VLE.
- The harnessing of developing technologies in professional development and the enhancement of teaching practice.
- The promotion of respect and equality for dyslexic learners and staff.
The seminar will include:
- An overview of research methodology underpinning the resource
- A demonstration of the E-learning Dyslexia Resource
- An opportunity for delegates to interact with the resource
- An account of use in HE context – feedback from students on Foundation Degree in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector
- Plenary discussion and opportunity for networking
